My name is Lucia, and I’ve been the office manager here at Angels Foster Family Network for eight years.
I’m not a social worker or a therapist. But every day, I see the love and care this organization gives to babies and young children when they come into foster care—when they need a safe place to be.
One part of my job is checking in families when they come to our office for visits—birth families, families who are fostering, babies, and toddlers. I get to witness some of the hardest—and most beautiful—moments in this work.
I see the nervousness in a parent’s eyes when they’re about to see their child again. I see foster parents giving space, showing grace. And I see birth parents doing what must feel impossible—showing up with love and hope, even after experiencing the heartbreak of having their child removed. No matter the reason, that kind of pain is hard to describe.
I may not be a social worker, but I’m right there—witnessing the tender moments, the heartbreak, and the hope. We all carry a piece of these stories in our hearts.
